OU College of Medicine Welcomes Inaugural Medical Director of Movement Disorder Center

Mariana Georgeta Varga, MD, joined the Department of Neurology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and OU Health as the inaugural Medical Director of the Movement Disorder Center. Dr. Varga is a graduate of the OU neurology residency program and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

 

Dr. Varga brings an extensive legacy of leadership and innovation, having founded and served as Medical Director of Movement Disorders and Deep Brain Stimulation Clinic in Austin, Texas. Her clinical practice is defined by a compassionate approach and dedication to advanced care for Parkinson’s disease and related movement disorders, significantly improving the lives of her patients through pioneering therapies such as Deep Brain Stimulation.

 

Passionately committed to groundbreaking research, Dr. Varga has spearheaded numerous clinical studies aimed at advancing treatments and diagnostic methodologies for movement disorders. Her work has impacted the understanding of motor function enhancement and gait improvement in Parkinson’s patients, earning her widespread respect in the neurological community.
