Professional Practice Gap: 1. Since cannabis use has been legalized in Oklahoma and other states, there is a trend of increasing cannabis use, increasing THC content, and new delivery systems. 2. Psychiatrists may be unaware of the relationship between cannabis use and the development of psychosis and have a lack of knowledge regarding strategies for patient education to reduce cannabis-related harm.


Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain current trends of US cannabis use, increasing THC potency, and novel delivery systems.
  2. Summarize the relationship between THC, cannabidiol, and the development of psychosis based on current literature.
  3. Discuss public health concerns related to current cannabis trends and how to educate patients about these issues.
