The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and the OU Health Sciences Center have launched a 38-foot-long customized vehicle, the “Health Sciences Explorer,” to take health education to under-resourced communities across Oklahoma.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Explorer will be held on Thursday, September 8, at 10 a.m. in front of the Bird Library on the OU Health Sciences Center campus.

The Explorer fills a critical role of supporting community outreach activities which include transporting healthcare equipment to community sites where teams will conduct health assessments and screening at partner locations and provides academic outreach to K-20 collaborative locations.

Join the OU Health Sciences Center campus community for a ribbon cutting of our new mobile outreach vehicle — Health Sciences Explorer. This vehicle is designed to provide educational and community health outreach with hands-on activities. We’re excited to introduce communities across the state to a wide variety of health professions, all which can uniquely be found at the OU Health Sciences Center’s seven colleges. The celebration will include a media briefing, ribbon cutting, tours and activities as well as a reception at the Bird Library on campus located at 1105 North Stonewall Avenue on our campus.
